The covered passages of Paris

Before department stores, there were covered passages: streets sheltered by a glass roof, paved with mosaics and lined with luxury shops. This route brings several together in five stations. At Bourse, step into Galeries Vivienne and Colbert. At Quatre-Septembre, push open the door of Passage Choiseul. End at Grands Boulevards with Passage des Panoramas, the oldest, opened in 1799, and Passages Jouffroy and Verdeau. An ideal route for rainy days, and a trip into 19th-century Paris.
