Paris's finest churches
From the Île de la Cité to the top of the Butte Montmartre, this route links Paris's finest religious buildings. You set off from Cité, between Notre-Dame cathedral and the Sainte-Chapelle, Gothic to the tips of their spires. On to the Madeleine, a neoclassical temple with imposing columns, then the churches of La Trinité and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, two faces of the 19th century. The journey ends at Abbesses, at the foot of the Sacré-Cœur basilica, which watches over the city from the Butte. Ten stations, stained glass, vaults and organs: a walk to enjoy for its silence, too.
