Oise Valley: Pissarro, Van Gogh, Daubigny

A landscape that became a painting lies less than an hour from Paris. This route follows the Oise in the painters' footsteps: at Pontoise, Camille Pissarro painted nearly 300 canvases and taught the young Cézanne, and his museum tells the story. At Auvers-sur-Oise, Vincent van Gogh produced around 80 paintings in the last 70 days of his life, in 1890 — you can see his room at the Ravoux inn and his grave, next to his brother Theo's. Valmondois recalls Daumier and Daubigny, who set up his easel along the river, and L'Isle-Adam makes a pretty finale beside the water. A day in the countryside, among landscapes that still exist.
