In the footsteps of the Revolution
Simply follow line 1 and you pass, in order, through the great scenes of the Revolution. It all begins at Bastille, on 14 July 1789. Hôtel de Ville was the seat of the insurrectionary Commune of 1792. At the Palais-Royal, Camille Desmoulins called Parisians to arms in July 1789. The Tuileries saw the fall of the monarchy in the assault of 10 August 1792. And the route ends at Place de la Concorde, then Place de la Révolution, where Louis XVI was guillotined in 1793. Eight stations, four years that changed the world: reason enough to look up from your phone when you step out of the metro.
