In the footsteps of French kings

It was on the Île de la Cité that the kings of France made their capital's heart beat. This short route starts at Cité, between Notre-Dame cathedral, the Conciergerie, the former palace of the sovereigns, and the Sainte-Chapelle, the Gothic jewel built by Saint Louis. It heads to Châtelet and Hôtel de Ville, then ends at Saint-Paul, in the Marais, where traces of Philip Augustus's city wall and fine private mansions remain. Four stations, eight centuries of monarchy, and at every step a setting that tells the story of France.
