Antony comes from Gallo-Roman Antoniacum (829), 'Antonius's estate'. From the 10th to the 15th century the village was a main dependency of the abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, whose abbot freed its serfs in 1248.

Anecdote

In the 17th-18th centuries, La Fontaine and Charles Perrault reportedly spent summers in Antony; a wax factory was founded there in 1702.
