Bagneaux-sur-Loing: history and sights
Served by: Transilien R.
Did you know?
Recorded in 872 as Baniolum, the name probably comes from Latin balneum, 'bathing places' flooded by the Loing. The current name dates from a decree of 11 November 1911. A royal glassworks was authorised there in 1751.
Anecdote
Saint-Gobain bought the glassworks in 1915; from 1922 the plant made Pyrex under a US licence, turning the town into a glassmaking centre.
