The Château de Beynes, a motte-and-bailey raised in 1073 in the bottom of the Mauldre valley, is now in ruins; it guarded the Orléans–Beauvais defensive axis during the Hundred Years' War.
Anecdote
Abandoned then turned into a stone quarry, the château was bought by the commune in 1967 and has been a listed historic monument since 1959.
