Bouray: history and sights
Served by: RER C.
Did you know?
Recorded around the year 1000 as Bolreit, the name may be linked to Gaulish rito, 'ford' (an uncertain hypothesis). '-sur-Juine' recalls the river. The Château de Mesnil-Voisin was built there in the 17th century by Michel Villedo.
Anecdote
Found in the Juine in 1845, the 'Dieu de Bouray', a bronze statuette of the Gaulish god Cernunnos (1st century BC), has been in the Musée d'Archéologie nationale since 1934.
