Did you know?
Enghien-les-Bains owes its name to the Belgian town of Enghien: in 1689 Louis XIV allowed the Condé princes to rename the duchy of Montmorency accordingly. 'Les-Bains' refers to its sulphurous spring.
Anecdote
In 1766 the Oratorian priest Louis Cotte found a sulphurous spring near the lake's dam. The racecourse, mostly in Soisy-sous-Montmorency, was inaugurated in June 1879.
