Did you know?
Changis, Villa Chagnerici in the 7th century, probably owes its name to the Marne's loop (a root suggesting a bend). It became Changis-sur-Marne by decree of 26 August 1915.
Anecdote
In 2012 the excavation of a Gallo-Roman site on the Marne's former riverbed uncovered a mammoth skeleton.
