Cantus Lupi in 1162, the name comes from 'chante' and 'loup' (wolf) according to Dauzat and Nègre. 'Les-Vignes' was added by decree in 1922, recalling the vineyards devastated by phylloxera around 1889.
Anecdote
On 27 November 1898 Camille Jenatzy won the world's second automobile hill climb at Chanteloup; the street is now named after its organiser, Paul Méyan.
