Did you know?
Clamart, attested as Claumar in the 7th century, may according to some linguists come from Gaulish Clunia-maros, the 'great meadow'. A papal bull of 1096 confirmed the church and village to Saint-Martin-des-Champs.
Anecdote
In 1794 Condorcet, fleeing Paris during the Terror, was arrested in a Clamart tavern.
