Guérard: history and sights
Served by: Transilien P.
Did you know?
Attested in 1045 (Wairar), Guérard probably comes from the Germanic name Warhard; tradition sees it as 'Évrard's ford' on the Grand Morin. In the 19th century its vineyard slopes were destroyed by phylloxera.
Anecdote
Guérard's Église Saint-Georges (12th- and 16th-century origins) holds stained glass by Charles Lévêque, a Beauvais master glassmaker, restored in 2000.
