Issou-Porcheville: history and sights
Served by: Transilien J.
Did you know?
Issou is recorded as Icok in 1190 (possibly from Gaulish uxellos, 'high place'). Porcheville appears as early as 680 as Porciaco villa, probably linked to a Roman personal name, Porcius (uncertain).
Anecdote
At Issou, the château (c. 1399) retains a square tower and a dovecote; local legend says the Marquise de Pompadour was received there by the Duke of Bouillon, who owned it from 1750.
