Issy-Val de Seine: history and sights
Served by: RER C.
Did you know?
Issy probably comes from the estate of Isicius, a Gallo-Roman landowner. Les Moulineaux was a hamlet named after its mills. Renamed 'L'Union' during the Revolution, the commune became Issy-les-Moulineaux in 1893.
Anecdote
The château of the Princes de Conti, lived in until 1777 and set in gardens by Le Nôtre, was demolished; one tower survives on the site of the Playing Card Museum.
