Did you know?
From Latin cella, 'small chamber': cells were hermits' cells that grew into monasteries. According to local history, a Benedictine abbey rose around the 7th century on the tomb of Saint Blandin, on an island in the Grand Morin.
Anecdote
In 1473 the abbot of Rebais exhumed the body of Saint Blandin and shared the relics among nearby parishes; of the old priory only a Gothic pillar survives.
