Did you know?
Les Saules lies in Orly, from Gallo-Roman Aureliacum, 'the estate of Aurelius' (recorded as early as 774). In the 9th century the village belonged to the chapter of Notre-Dame de Paris, then to Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Anecdote
Around 1250, the people of Orly, many of them serfs, refused the chapter's tax; Blanche of Castile intervened and they were freed in return for 4,000 livres.
