Did you know?
First recorded in 1209 as 'Mauricuria', the name joins the Latin -curtis (estate) to a personal name, probably Maurus. Part of Andrésy and of the Notre-Dame de Paris chapter, Maurecourt became independent in 1791.
Anecdote
From 1808, Maurecourt was a major river stopover on the Oise; its shipyards, including the wooden-barge yard 'Arches de Noë', worked from 1918 to 1955.
