A short walk from the station, the Chapelle expiatoire stands on the former Madeleine cemetery, where Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were buried before their transfer to Saint-Denis in 1815.
Anecdote
Built from 1815 to 1826 for Louis XVIII by the architect Pierre Fontaine, the chapel was saved from demolition in 1914 thanks to its listing as a historic monument.
