Presles (Prataria, 862) comes from a word for wide expanses of meadows. Courcelles is a former fief of the territory. A lordship of the Presles, then the Baillet family (1580), it passed to the Prince de Conti.
Anecdote
The Blanc Val covered gallery grave, found in 1949 and about 6 m long, is a Neolithic collective tomb that held some fifty dead; it is a protected historic monument.
