Did you know?
Its name probably comes from the Latin trajectum ('crossing'), as the Marne was forded here; a ford is recorded as early as 991. In 1914 the German army crossed the Marne here before French engineers destroyed the bridge.
Anecdote
In 1918, during the Second Battle of the Marne, Trilport housed the 6th Army headquarters, where Foch, Pétain and Clemenceau met to halt the German offensive.
