Val d'Europe is the name of sector IV of Marne-la-Vallée, launched by the 1987 agreement between the State and Disney. The station is in Serris, a clearing name (from Latin saria, stored cut wood), recorded in 1169 as Sarries.
Anecdote
Excavations at Les Ruelles in Serris uncovered a Merovingian village with a manor farm, cemetery and chapel; the village was abandoned in the early 15th century.
